Thenkachi Ko Swaminathan (AIR-Indru Oru Thagaval) Death Anniversary

 In WI Editor's Report

Thenkachi Ko. Swaminathan was an author of various Tamil books, Deputy Director of All India Radio, was host of the daily programme Indru oru Thagaval on All India Radio (AIR). Later he also hosted a program in Sun TV. He was a down-to-earth human being.

Today is his fifth death anniversary. He died on Wednesday, September 16, 2009 after a brief illness at the age of 67. Million people across Tamil Nadu woke up to his voice every morning for several years. The five-minute programme, presented in simple colloquial Tamil the common man could relate to and punctuated by anecdotes meant to make you smile and ponder, was broadcast without a break from 1988 until his retirement in 2002.Many still remember Thenkachi Ko Swaminathan for his philosophical story telling style with a slice of humour.
When he was alive, lakhs of people for years regularly listened to him. Having five years gone since his death, many would have now forgotten. But it is our duty to remember the Radio LEGEND and share it with all tamil radio listeners.
‘Sir,you may have passed, but your stories haven’t. They still reverberate with us.’
